Smile Gallery: Tooth Extractions

This patient came in as an emergency with multiple teeth causing facial swelling and toothache. Extraction was chosen by the patient for the unrestorable retained root tips and traditional root canal therapy was performed in order to save the adjacent premolar tooth. All canals were found and the pain and swelling resolved after placement of the inter-appointment calcium hydroxide medicament.

This lovely young patient had a loose baby tooth that they were finding it difficult to "wiggle out" at home. After some topical anesthetic to "numb" the gingiva (gums), we were able to remove it with pedo forceps. Quick and easy and off to the tooth fairy!

Due to lack of space, this wisdom tooth became stuck (impacted) against the back of the tooth in front. Access to cleaning (toothbrushing) became difficult subsequently causing tooth decay.
This upper wisdom tooth was removed quickly and easily under local anaesthetic.

This patient had a toothache in a lower left hand side molar but was not interested in root canal treatment to save the tooth. Referral was made to local specialists to remove the lower first molar and place a Straumann tissue level implant.
