This patient came in as an emergency from the hospital emergency department across the street. They had severe swelling extending towards the eye (orbital cellulitis) from a non vital and infected front tooth. Extraction was not chosen as an option by this patient so it was decided to perform traditional root canal therapy. Complete chemo-mechanical preparation was achieved during the emergency visit, inter-appointment calcium hydroxide medicament placed, and complete resolution of the facial swelling was achieved a few days later.
